I am almost sure that you have already decorated your christmas
tree, or the Windows of your house.
These are activities that became part of
our culture since a long time ago.
It´s so interesting and exciting at the same time, because this
season is the most emotive part of the year, it´s time to share with the people
you love the most.
But, how do ticos preparate themselves for receiving
christmas?
Well, the answer you can find it very easy. Ticos usually
decorate their houses with some wreath and lights on the Windows. Also as
family, they usually put some color balls on the tree, combinated with lights
and flowers…
“El Portal” (the simulation of the Jesus birthday through Little
figures) is something essencial; families in CR usually meet to build “the
Portal” together as a tradition, it´s something valuable for them.
Also, previous days to Christmas people do “Posadas” that
consist in people specifically children that dress like María and José asking
for worm place, reminding the history of Jesus birthday.
The “tamales” that are the favorite food in Christmas days is so important for ticos. Almost in every house families cook Tamales for celebrating Christmas.
But the most important tradition is to be with your family and friends, enjoy with them and share with the mos needed people.
